If anyone deserves an epic romance on Game of Thrones, it’s Sansa Stark…
It’s addictive to speculate about what will happen next on Game of Thrones. That’s the appeal. We all have ideas about what we think will happen. It’s endless entertainment to talk about it.
What makes it more fun, we rarely guess right. The show has taught us one thing: expect the unexpected.
I’ve been fantasizing about what I’d like to happen for Sansa Stark.
After being traumatized myself by the abuse she suffered at the hands of Ramsay in Season 5, my way of coping was to figure out what I’d like to happen next for Sansa. Though I have no delusions that what I want will actually happen.
That she orchestrates Ramsey’s death at the end of Season 6 was fabulous. His death—being eaten by his own dogs—was a great revenge for Sansa. Many believe it was the best she could ask for. And I think the creators intended it that way. But I disagree.
She deserves so much more.
I would’ve been more satisfied with seeing her brutalize him by her own hand in some way. And I think her character would’ve too. The way she didn’t stay to watch him be thoroughly eaten and take pleasure in watching him die struck me as anticlimactic as well.
But far more than violence, what Sansa deserves for total revenge and recovery is a good lover, i.e. some really great sex.
She’s never known sex in a pleasurable sense. Only in violence. This may not be the season for her. She may need more time to recover first, but what her revenge should include is an extended affair with someone of her choosing who really knows how to make it good.
So the next consideration is—who would this lover be?
Many have speculated that Jon and Sansa would make an excellent and logical marriage. And it’s more than clear, based on his relationship with Ygritte, Jon would be more than up to helping Sansa lead a very satisfying sex life. I would love to see that happen. I am here for it.
That is, if she consented. We know enough of Jon’s character, if he stays true to it, that no matter how politically advantageous a marriage between them might be, he wouldn’t agree to it unless she wanted it too. Given she’s known him since she was born, I’m not sure she’d be into him in a lustful way.
There are too many other good lovers on GoT not to speculate on some other possibilities.
There’s Tyrion and the fact that he and Sansa may still be married—depending on whether or not it counts that their marriage was never consummated. We know from Tyrion’s reputation he is an excellent lover, and he would certainly help give Sansa a pleasurable experience. Though he is older, and I’m not certain Sansa would be wild about him as a bed partner either.
Brienne is around. While we don’t know precisely what sort of lover she is, the state of her relationship with Jaime is in question, and Brienne is dedicated to helping Sansa in whatever way she can. Sansa might be interested in letting her help her in this way too.
Podrick is around…somewhere. We all know he was well appreciated as a lover in Westeros. At least he is closer in age to Sansa.
A relationship with Daenerys might be an extraordinary experience for her. She certainly enjoys being with those in power and we all know Dany has no inhibitions when it comes to sexual experiences.

A new character from among the northern houses might decide to court Sansa. Someone young with a joy for life that Sansa has lost would be ideal.
It’s fun to imagine. The possibilities are endless.
Though all are unlikely.
Season 6 gave us so much good stuff, beginning with the resurrection of Jon, his reunion with Sansa, the demise of Ramsay and the realization of Arya’s revenge. Serious good times candy. But I worry we’ve been lulled into forgetting how brutal and horrific the GoT world can be.
The only thing that’s certain is that we can’t predict what will happen, and I’m predicting we’re due for some horrible things that we’re going to hate seeing happen to our favorite characters.
My worry is they’ll marry Sansa to Littlefinger after all. Or someone worse. I hate to think Jon would let this happen, but I wouldn’t be surprised given the show’s reputation for wrecking our hopes on a regular basis.
I’m sure this season will break my heart in some way. But I’ll keep watching. Despite my pessimism, I still have hope that good will triumph over evil in the end. Even if no one gets their happily-ever-after.
